Nothing can bring you as much thrill and excitement as slowly moving along with your team to conduct an assault on the enemy’s lair, and then suddenly finding yourself in the middle of a close encounter. You see everything in the first person point of view, and the noise sounds like you’re really in a combat zone. This is what makes playing an FPS game unique. Usually in other kinds of games like RPG or tower defense, the player sees everything from the point of view of an observer. Here he sees all the things around him like he’s really in a battlefield. And this has been really effective in bringing that adrenaline rush to everyone.
Aside from playing a game from a personal angle, FPS games are very realistic unlike flash games like Swapples or any of the Ben 10 games. Developers have painstakingly made lots of effort to make everything close to the real thing as possible. You can’t fire more shots than the number of bullets you have in your magazine. You need to be aware of your ammo all the time. The area damaged by the explosion of a grenade is very accurate. Fragments here can hurt players too. And the guns recoil the same way as in real life.
Players can experience what it’s like to be in an actual combat. The actions can happen really fast. During a game you need to make split-second decisions just like in real life. A wrong move can cost your life. There are instances too when luck would play a role. But unlike in real life no one’s physically hurt here (unless you have a misunderstanding with another player). After every round everyone’s still in one piece and getting ready for the next one.
A first person shooter game is like a make-believe world that everyone wants to be in for a while just to escape from the realities of life. Here they can be anyone they want, a soldier, a terrorist, a cop, or maybe even an Indian. It fulfills a childhood fantasy for a while without having an effect on the actual life of a person. This is why FPS games will continue to be loved by everyone for a long time to come.
